Poor blacks / washed out picture. I lasted two days with the lg before returning it. My main issue is with the picture quality and the black levels. No matter how much you adjust the settings of the picture (there are *many* discussions in forums suggesting the best settings), you cannot get a clean, sharp and vibrant picture. The best ‘black’ is a dark grey and leaves the picture looking mainly washed out. I spent a good few hours late into the night trying to get a better picture, and i couldn’t. Others have noted the same frustration in forums. I had the opportunity to purchase a sony kdl42w706b prior to returning the lg, and managed to view them side-by-side. The sony made the lg look dull in comparison. The bravia has beautiful strong lush blacks that make the picture leap out of the screen (startlingly so) – so much so that i have left the default settings pretty much unaltered.
Try the following calibration settings if you’re not happy with the initial picture quality. Ok tv, but took ages to set up. This tv keeps dropping down to £499 so be sure to use camelcamelcamel. Com to catch it when it does again, if not lower. One thing to note is that theres is a lot of input lag when gaming unless you use the ‘game’ picture mode. This then turns off a lot of the options which seem to create a false image effect with a lot of filters. Once on this mode though you can play with the colour settings and everything looks lovely (tested with an xbox one). The freeview hd on this works very well and has yet to cut out like some set top boxes. I am piping my audio out of the tv into a surround sound system via the optical out and that also works very well too. Wall mounting screws come attached to the back of the tv, just screw into any 400×400 vesa mount and it will work a treat.
Very pleased with the set, excellent picture, had no trouble setting it up, handbook could be better but at least there is one.

Makes a good attempt at upscaling standard picture signals (from terrestrial and sky box hd). Magic control is pretty good, and it’s easy to use onscreen keyboard using this.
Such a clear screen it actually felt like i was inside her vagina.
