One of the best tv’s i have owned. . So good that i also have the 65” updated model sj950v also. And with the right calibration almost as good as oled.
Updated version of a which recommended tv and am very glad with the purchase. Bought as an upgrade to previous lg 42′ led and the difference in quality (and os) is definitely noticeable. Packed full of features, great connectivity options and very easy to configure. Am delighted with the quality of the picture, the slim profile and bezel.
Really nice tv , not quite oled but on super ultra it really enhances sport and cinema. Even none hd channels are worth watching on this tv. For the money this is a good buy, great delivery service , good packaging design makes unpacking and set up very easy.
I cannot review the uhd aspect of this television, as i am still waiting for my sony x800 to arrive. However, i have paired it up with lg sh5b soundbar and sub-woofer, and fed it sky hd signals (i know this is not full hd, but it currently the best i can do). The remote creates a nice orange pointer on the screen, which makes it easy to click on menu options. As delivered, the colours were far too dark, but it took very little time to tweak it to my satisfaction. Although 55′ seems overkill, when mounted on the wall with a slimline tilt & pivot mount, it is surprisingly unobtrusive, and gives a quiet style to the room. After the tweaking, the colours were vibrant and strong – and only dimmed slightly when viewed at 45 degrees – far better than other panels we looked at. The contrast ratio looks superb, while retaining all the detail you could wish. My one initial gripe was the remote control – the volume controls are two tiny black nibs on a black background; however, they are set above and below the usual volume control symbol, so you simply rest your thumb on the symbol, and rock up for louder and down for softer – a very short learning curve. Similarly, the select button in the middle of the cursor ring was a black dome on a black background, and for a while i accidentally turned the voice control on by pressing the wrong button – i became very adept at saying ‘turn voice control off’ (which it understood perfectly) until i became used to the layout.
The tv was delivered within a day or two and came well boxed. A huge tip is to make sure you look out for the remote and screws as they are hiding in a bag in one of the polystyrene blocksthe 65′ screen is huge and only has a thin 1/2′ black border around the outside rim. The tv is thicker near the bottom, say ~2. 5′ and miles thinner at the top. A uk plug was fitted and there are loads of connections on the back, hdmi etc. However the only negative connection-wise is that there appears to be no old-style av in connector. I’ve never used lg’s web os before and its easy to use and the setup took about 10 minutes, including netflix, amazon, youtube and setting the remote up for the virgin tivo box. The remote also has dedicated buttons for amazon & netflix, the pointer is quite sensitive and also the remote while small, doesn’t feel like cheap tat. I saw the other reviews about possible bad picture quality (eg white corners and a blue line on amazon), thank * we’ve not seen anything like that on ours and i’m chuffed with image quality, the difference between this one and out old one is shocking (the old one wasn’t true hd, let alone 4k). Besides the lack of a av in socket and the minor bug bear to begin with of having to update each of the apps individually as there doesn’t appear to be a ‘update all apps’ button that i’ve found, super impressed and made christmas day tv most enjoyable.
Great tv from lg would buy again.
- Great company which I can assure you is not always
- Fantastic tv. Amazing picture quality and sound
- One of the best tv’s i have owned
Amazing picture quality and sound. What a godsend the remote is, being able to point at what you need or use the scroll or arrow buttons setting up and logging in is a breeze. If i could give it more stars i would. Buy it you will not regret it for a single second.
We had been talking about getting a bigger tv set so was delighted to receive this lg 55 inch super uhd premium 4k television. I was taken aback when it was delivered as it looked so huge. I thought it would just overwhelm the whole room. However once it was in position it looked just fine. We had our previous tv a few years so i was amazed by how the technology has improved. It is surprisingly slim so would be easy to mount on a wall. The screen has a very narrow black border and looks much more attractive than the one it has replaced. It comes with an elegant easy-to-assemble stand – curved silver-coloured metal which is very stable and looks really modern. I won’t repeat all the technical details – they are all displayed clearly on the amazon site. I didn’t actually set it up myself but watched while it was done.
Love the tv, the picture is amazing and it was so easy to set up. Watched the athletics on it and it was like being there, felt like you could touch the athletes. And then 2 weeks after purchase, it developed a pink line from top to bottom. Tried the test picture as suggested by the lg helpline lady, but it wouldn’t budge. So as it’s within a month, it’s going back to amazon for a refund as they were out of stock and couldn’t replace it. My worry about getting another is that someone else had reviewed it and had a similar fault.
Nice looking tv, suberb picture, easy to set up. Thrilled 😁 with my purchase.
I rarely leave reviews but i can’t help myself as i’m so pleased with the tv. It’s a massive improvement over my last lg 50′ smart tv, the os is easy to use and fast and stable, the built in sat tuner is a brilliant addition so much so i’ve cancelled sky and i’ll buy any movies or shows through the built in apps like amazon or now tv. Netflix 4k built in is amazing, almost too clear so that it feels fake. The voice remote even understands my welsh accent with hardly any mistakes. It really is a great tv don’t be afraid to make a purchase, i can’t compare to it’s competitors but i don’t even feel that i want to as i’m so pleased-which is usually hard to do. I’m at a loss to find fault.

Not an oleg however not far away, has all the future functions as you woukd expect from a 2017 tv and i still get caught by the wow factor of the crisp picture and natural colours (not overly bright as some 4k tv’s seem to push out). I had an issue with the optical port which amazon sorted promptly with a replacement. Great company which i can assure you is not always the case with online businesses.
Very nice picture very good quality.
Brilliant really good tv, pictures amazing.
Fab t v and surround sound system. Like being at the pictures in your own home.
A quality tv with a great picture and superb sound for a flat screen. Many great features , talks to my phone, tabet and can even stream my movies from my pc in the other room. Many add on apps that actually work. Biggest disappointment is the 4k thing. Not the tvs fault but you can hardly tell the difference between hd and 4k. It is there but not worth the price differential in my opinion as hd picture is so good from skyq box and normal tv. Would seriously go look at both pictures before you pay the difference. Saying that i’d probably buy another one.
Our old telly that this has replaced was over 10 years old and although it had started to develop problems like the picture developing a pink or green tinge intermittently for varying lengths of time, it wasn’t too bad ( i thought) for an inexpensive telly. It wasn’t until i tried this one that i realise now how terrible our old one was. This thing left us speechless for the first hour of trying it all out. I still can’t believe the clarity and brightness. Couldn’t get over the size for one thing, a 55 inch screen is massive and made our old one (which i always thought was a good size) look like a portable tellywe were terrified trying to get it out of the box and set it on its stand as the whole thing is so thin in profile and looks so very fragile but we followed the unpacking instructions and it was up on its stand in no time without incident. To be honest we haven’t had to muck about with the settings much at all, it was more or less good to go straight out of the box. Very easy to set up and we were happy with the defaults but my son tweaked it a bit for us as he knows what he’s doing more than us and i honestly can’t imagine it being any better. I’m delighted with itfantastic picture and i can’t get over how bright and clear it all is. We’ve had xbox one games on it and i know a lot of how impressive it is is down to the game graphics as much as the tv but it looks amazing and i never tire of looking at it all. Works great with our amazon prime and our other apps but we’ve really only scratched the surface of all it is capable of.
IPS 4K Nano Cell Display – Genuine LED innovation.
All set up just as good as an oleg tv 👌🏻 very happy with my new lg 55 hdr10 dolby vision tv 👌🏻😊.
An extremely modern looking aesthetically pleasing tv with a dainty border allowing a viewing area up to the very edges of the set. The tv is very thin and allows fitting almost flush with a wall (wall mounted option), or alternatively free standing on a very modern looking silver base. Overall it lends a modern feel to the room and is a piece of furniture rather than simply an entertainment device. Out of the box it is simple to instal,l with a brief instruction booklet that is clear and concise. My anxiety over wondering which leads plug where was soon allayed once i saw the connection board at the rear of the tv, which was clearly marked and easy to follow. Within 10 minutes of being out of the packaging it was switched on and ready to gothe initial set up was a dream. The device took me through the stages with ease, and hitherto difficult operations like connecting to wifi happened without effort. The set-up programme asked me to identify my set top box. This was actually a panasonic set and i suspected that we would have difficulty in synchronising the two. The pre-installed software found it instantly once i selected the appropriate manufacturer and we were ready to view.
I had a panasonic with 20w speakers and sounded like a tin can. No bass affect or anything, this is on another level for standard telly speakers. Why would you wanna spend more money on a soundbar. ? i live in a flat and this is perfectpicture quality is superb. Can’t express enough how impressed i and friends areps4 and 1080p movies are awesome. Can’t wit to try out netflix 4k contenthdr is good too with three choices of tint.
Massively impressed by this tv. It’s loaded with logical features. I did read the negative reviews but they must have had a bad tv. Buy a lg with confidence in my opinion. It’s the equal to or better than the main competitors, ie, samsung, panasonic etc. And on the price i paid for this tv it’s quite simply one to consider if you’re in the market.
I must admit owning a 55” tv is not a life ambition for me, especially when it comes to a cost of nearly £1300. But being offered one to review is something i could in no way refuse. I adore all technology and gadgets so anything with this much tech is a real turn on and to be blunt, this tv is full of everything tech. Starting with its sheer size, i assumed that something this big would be overwhelmingly obnoxious and drag eyes to it immediately on entering the room. This is very surprisingly not the case, its big – omg is it big, but it doesn’t dominate. Flat against the wall it sticks out less than 5” (12 cm) and some of that distance is cable ends. Reading the dimensions on paper it looks as though its 10” (24. 5cm) deep, but thoughtfully this measurement includes the area taken up with the beautiful crescent shaped stand, stick it on a wall mount and its back to its 5” depth, give or take, depending on the type of wall mount. The thinness is amazing for such a large area of screen, roughly 25% of the whole thickness is in the bottom quarter, even this is less than 6 cm. I am assuming this is to house the brilliant harmon- kardon speaker system.
Fantastic product for the money.
