SEIKI HD Ready 28-Inch Smart LED TV – Too good to be true?

Most definitely the best value for money tv i have ever purchased. The clarity, sound and multiple functions particularly the wifi you tube and bbc i player are superb in every way. You will definitely not regret it.

Instructions were not easy to understand for putting the television on the stand.

The tv is fine and does hd with the freeview. But the description says it has opera built in and it hasn’t. I opened the box and there was a note stuck on the bag containing the tv and it says “we regretfully advise you that the planned opera tv store is currently unavailable. In the future if this changes we will automatically update your tv software over the network to make the opera tv store accessible”. Amazon haven’t changed the words in their description. I am really disappointed (having gone by the description) that all i can do internet-wise is watch the few apps built in to the tv i. E bbc iplayer, you tube, weather, bbc news and sport, netflix and a kiddies app. The functionality of it as a smart tv is lessened greatly.

The tv is great for its value (i bought it during sales event. The tv is great for its value (i bought it during sales event in amazon). I am not gradin it with 5* because it does not allow free internet navigation nor installing new apps apart from the preinstalled ones. For the rest, it is just great.

  • Much better than expected
  • Too good to be true?
  • Have no fear! Seiki is here!
  • The product is excellent, especially as it is so competitively priced
  • The TV is great for its value (I bought it during sales event
  • A disappointing Smart TV.

SEIKI HD Ready 28-Inch Smart LED TV with Built-in Wi-Fi and Freeview HD

  • Connected LED TV with Wi-Fi built-in, streaming your favourite music, movies and TV shows
  • Freeview HD to enable you to get access to over 50 TV channels
  • The remote control QWERTY keyboard allows you to easily enter any word, phrase or keyboard command to any application
  • Connects to video streaming applications such as Netflix, YouTube, BBC iPlayer, BBC News, BBC Sports, Toongoggles, Opera, Accuweather
  • 3 x HDMI connections

Picture quality is great and you don’t usually get built in wifi at this price. Navigation can be slow through the menus but the keyboard on the remote is just an awesome time saving addition. Wifi is strong and consistent. There is no opera store and the feet for the stand are poor (not a problem if wall mounting). Very well specced tv at a very good price. Would be even better with smoother menu transitions (i would give 4.

Only thing i’m not so keen on is the remote. I don’t think its particularly easy to use as normal number buttons are so small to see that it makes it awkward. Also it takes a few seconds when you switch tv on for it to initialise. With that said its still a good tv and i had a discount off amazon so still pleased.

Purchased as a second tv for the bedroom and this tv ticked all the boxes. The added benefit of having netflix app was also a selling point to me, however, disappointed it does not have the amazon prime app loaded on it. Simple to set up and navigate this really is a great tv for the price. Only negative was that the first i had delivered had a shattered screen but the replacement (delivered within 24 hours) is fine apart from a small mark within the screen which is only visible against light backgrounds.

Found initially i was unable to make the internet/network-related presets to remain ‘sticky’ and contacted seiki in wales, and found them extremely helpful, i cannot recommend them highly enough.

This tv has surpassed my expectations in nearly every way. Sound is good, picture is good, connectivity is tremendous. The remote has a cheeky keyboard built in which is very handy. The apps are limited but what there is work well it seems. Would have been 5 stars but for the controls have jammed a few times so no buttons work at all on the tv or the remote. Will be returning if this happens again. I wonder if the quality suffers at the hands of the features & connectivity?. If it’s too good to be true.

Bought it for a space where there is no aerial. It relies, therefore, entirely on wifi – but through this bbc iplayer, netflix and youtube are all easily available, and there are useful rolling news and rolling sport apps too. Just two things to be aware of. 1) there is no ethernet cable point; so it cannot be linked via regular power line adapters. 2) netflix and youtube can be “cast” from iphones to the tv, but bbc iplayer can’t. Neither of these is a serious problem, as the wifi works well (assuming high-speed fibre optic) and the controller with full keyboard and single-button apps is great. I have also used it via hdmi to watch skygo, and picture is fine – not exactly hd but more than acceptable. Another bonus is it is very light.

Nice clear picture good packaging. The tv it self is okay, nice clear picture good packaging, easy set up, down side the cheap horrible legs it came with but i solved that by buying a proper stand all is well.

Good value for money, but (purchased when special offer was on). I purchased this tv initially because it was on a special offer for a number of days. For the price, the value was brilliant, 28-inches, hd freeview and smart functionality with the exception of it being hd ready, but that didn’t bother me too much as i already have full hd screens. However the first tv i received displayed a few tiny dead pixels which was annoying, however i asked for replacement to be sent out and arrived in good order; with no dead pixels. The user-interface is alright but not amazing and the tv came with manufacturer note that informs you that opera tv store is no longer supported, which is a shame, but it does come with netflix, youtube, iplayer and some bbc feature pre-installed, but you can not download more apps for the tv; this was probably why it was on a special offer. The hd freeview is good feature for those that want to experience hd television and the apps are good as well, but the fluency of the tv (speed/performance wise) can be choppy at times, but i only experience this when on the interactive menu, but it doesn’t affect you too much. But picture quality and sound quality is really good, the colours are bright and detailed and sound is what you expect from built-in tv speakers; no issues in that department. For the price i paid which was £114 it’s a good deal, but if you’re thinking on buying a new tv or upgrading a tv. I would go with a different tv brand like samsung or lg; in my opinion. Finally, the structural material does feel slightly flimsy, but only certain areas like the rim around the display.
