I won’t go into fine details about what this tv can do because there are hundreds of in depth reviews about it. -i researched tv’s for months. Very nearly went for a samsung (f6400) but the sony has a much better build quality, nice metal, thin bezel and better picture. You sacrifice not having 3d, but that’s fine for me. -i don’t use the smart features so much, as the laptop is more convenient. However it’s good to know that the tv has those features if needed-you can use a phone/tablet as a remote control. Very cool, even my ipad works fine. With the app you can access all of the buttons that are on the remote control, you can select a program from the tv guide on the ipad and the tv will change channel, genius. You can also share media (videos, pictures, music from your windows pc wirelessly to the tv.
What can i say about the sony kdl-42w653 that’s not already been said by other reviews here?. Not much really except i can wholeheartedly recommend this tv. This replaces my 3 year old samsung 40″ which was physically bigger, huge bezel, and my poor addled brain is taking its time to believe the screen is bigger on the sony.
Just got this tv a few days ago along with my ps4. All i can say is wowthe tv itself is stunning, the brushed silver frame looks so high quality and frames the screen perfectly. As for the picture quality, it’s flawlwess.I play bf4 which is in itself a visual impressive game and this tv just does it justice completely. Colours are vibrant and the picture clarity is crystal clear, no motion blur at alli couldn’t recommend this enough.
Lots of good features but just couldn’t get the picture to my liking. I bought this tv virtually solely based on the reviews here (and my many positive experiences with sony tvs in the past). There are many good features:- the fact that the wall mount and stand are one and the same. I didn’t mount it on a wall but it would have been simple to do so. The stand is very easy to put together, just requiring two pieces of metal tubing to be connected to the stand with two screws, before being slotted into the tv and held in place with two more screws. It felt very stable when put together. This sony tv is extremely lightweight and thin compared to an lg one i have with the same size screen that is a couple of years old. – two hdmi ports make it easy to switch between devices using the menus on the tv. A usb port is also included, which is useful. – the built in wifi connectivity makes it remarkably easy to connect to the internet if you don’t want the wired option through the lan port.
- Great for wall mounting!
- Utterly stunning!
- Stunning piece of kit, great design too!
- Worth every penny
- Best sub £500 gaming TV
- Brilliant picture quality and nice looking TV
Sony KDL32W653 32-inch Widescreen Freeview HD LED Smart TV (discontinued by manufacturer)
- Full HD (1080p) Edge LED TV with X-Reality PRO, screen mirroring and Motionflow XR 200Hz, plus Wi-Fi for streaming content
- 32″ and 42″ sizes available
- Full HD (1080p)
- Sony Entertainment Network access
All things considered i am very happy with this purchase. The display is great @720p, at 24″ it really doesn’t need 1080p unless you were wanting to use it as a pc monitor. Sd looks great and the hd channels add noticeably more detail to it again. It’s not the biggest difference because of its size, but both sd & hd are very nice to look at. The bezel is just right and it looks great. It displays 8 channels per page and loads snappily. I’ve read that sony’s menus aren’t meant to be that user friendly but i’ve had no issues accessing and navigating them. The stand isn’t very well padded at its contact points.
I have been doing lots of research and visited many shops to see how the different screens compare with each other. When i saw this sony i knew that was going to be mine. The quality of the image is fantastic, audio is not too bad and seems to be on par with other models, the extra thin bezel makes the television smaller without sacrificing screen size. I’ve done some basic testing of smart functionality and the netflix app was quite good, allowing me to watch the first season of breaking bad with no glitch. The remote is ok, even though i’m still using the virgin remote for most of the tivo functionality. There’s an iphone/ipad (probably android app) that allows to control the television which seems good, although the text input is a bit weird as id doesn’t allow you to see the text as you type on the screen (you will see it on your phone for instance but you have to confirm before seeing the whole text on the television). Only slight downside is that there is practically no clearance under the screen; so if you have a blu-ray player or a tivo box keep it in mind (i didn’t and my tivo box is now on the floor until i find a more permanent solution). Not too sure why amazon and other shops are keeping this price tag, as a quite famous department store offers a 5 year guarantee for the same price. In conclusion, definitely recommend it.
My best settings for sony bravia kdl42w653. I’ve played several games on xbox one with this tv and it looks good, no blur on the football on fifa etc. . I’m not a uber graphics snob, so if you are you might not be so impressed. Out of the box the settings are crap. Far to bright and huge loss of detail. So i spent ages reading about optimum settings and tweaking my set. What i have it set on now seems to be just right for my needs, and i actually use these settings for tv and for games. If you want to copy my settings then you might want to turn on some of the advanced picture processing stuff i’ve turned off. I turned most of the extra guff off as it seemed to just falsely create blacker blacks by eating up the detail.
